Betty Adcock spent her childhood in the historic San Augustine area where her ancestors had settled in the 1820s. She has spent most of her adult life in North Carolina and is writer-in-residence at Meredith College in Raleigh, but much of her poetry recurs to scenes of East Texas and themes of Texas History.
Her books include Walking Out, Nettles, Beholdings, The Difficult Wheel, and Intervale: New & Selected Poems
The Difficult Wheel won the Texas Intitute of Letters award for poetry and the North Carolina award for literature.
