
(Joseph) Bryce Milligan was born in Dallas on January 18, 1953. He holds a MA in language and linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has been book editor for both San Antonio papers. He was a founding editor of PAX: A Journal for Peace through Culture, (1983-1987) which in turn was one of the founding sponsers of The San Antonio Inter-American Book Fair. In 1995 he became publisher/editor of Wings, one of the state's oldest small presses.
Milligan has taught at UTSA and Palo Alto college and as poet-in-the-schools with San Antonio ISD, and directed the only 4-year high school creative writing program in the country.
His books include juveniles and young adult novels including: With the Wind, Kevin Dolan, Battle of the Alamo, Comanche Captive, Lawmen: Stories of Men Who Tamed the West, Brigid's Cloak: An Ancient Irish Story, The Prince of Ireland and the Three Magic Stallions; poetry including: Daysleepers & Other Poems, Litany Sung at Hell's Gate, Working the Stone, and Alms for Oblivion, and several edited volumes reflecting his interest in Latina poetry.
Milligan is the author of several locally produced plays and has a long-time interest in the guitar.
