
C(harles) W(illiam) Smith was born March 28, 1940, in Corpus Christi. He holds a BA from North Texas State and an MA from Northern Illinois. He has been a reporter and film critic for the Dallas Times Herald. His articles and short stories have appeared in numerous periodicals. He is a professor of English in the creative writing program at SMU.
Smith's books include: Thin Men of Haddam, Country Music, Vestal Virgin Room, Will They Love Me When I Leave? (reissued with author's title as Uncle Dad), Buffalo Nickel, Hunter's Trap, Understanding Women, Gabriel's Eye, and Letters from the Horse Latitudes (stories).
