Félix D. Almaráz

Félix Děaz Almaráz was born December 2, 1933 in San Antonio. He graduated from St. Mary's in 1959 and took an MA there in 1962. He was awarded a PhD by the University of New Mexico in 1968. He is the Peter T. Flawn Distinguished Professor of Borderlands History at the University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown campus.

He is a past president of the Texas State Historical Association and of the Texas Catholic Historical Society. He has received a number of foreign awards and was elected to the TIL in 2002.

His publications include Knight without Armor: Carlos Eduardo Castańeda, Madero in Texas (editor), and Tragic Cavalier.
