John Bloom

John (Irving) Bloom was born in Dallas on January 27, 1953. He grew up in Dallas and Little Rock and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt. He had a remarkable career in journalism before being overshadowed by his creation Joe Bob Briggs, critic of films that don't take themselves too seriously.

His book include Evidence of Love, (as Bloom, co-author Jim Atkinson), Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In, A Guide to Western Civilization, or, My Story, Joe Bob Goes Back to the Drive-In, The Cosmic Wisdom of Joe Bob Briggs, Iron Joe Bob, Profoundly Disturbing: Shocking Movies That Changed History and Profoundly Erotic: Sexy Movies That Changed History.
